3. Thinking that certain foods make you gain weight

  • First, we don’t gain weight from a particular food, like pizza or cakes. We gain weight from consuming more calories than we burn overall. It doesn’t matter what the food is – even overeating a salad can lead to weight gain if you eat too much.

Secondly, if you eat in moderation, it doesn’t matter what you eat – you won’t gain weight. And if you lead an active lifestyle, you don’t have to worry about having an ice cream once in a while.

Thirdly, the problem is not only overeating, but also its causes. Perhaps you are stressed, eating out of boredom, or just because others are eating. Maybe you’re putting flavor enhancers in your food that make you eat more, or eating too fast and not noticing when you’re full. Maybe you ignore feeling hungry during the day and overeat at night. We need to address these underlying causes rather than blaming it all on pizza.
